- Legislature is authorized to exercise power over all branches of state government, subject to the Florida commission on ethics which is given authority to investigate, prosecute and penalize all state and local government officers, including judges, and their employees according to rules of the commission or law, for all acts of misfeasance, malfeasance or nonfeasance, any common, constitutional, or statutory law violations or deprivations while performing their powers or duties in office or during employment.
